Auto will be slower. I think manual was early 6 seconds with auto coming in at early 7's.

edit - Manuals are quoted between mid 5's to mid 6's.

A standard auto in good condition should do 6.5 ish, a standard manual will do under 6 seconds.

With a few basic mods some owners have been seeing 4.5 secs or less !!!

Mid 6s sounds about right for a stock auto.

A cheap MBC or they can compensate for tired wastegates or give a useful power bump...

Quickness is probably more down to how much boost is made and held than the transmission fitted.

Legnums are a lot of fun and well supported through the friendly and helpful ClubVR4.

I'll miss mine. frown

Late to the party, but had a look at a VR4 Legnum the other day and then found a this thread.

From the wiki page:
...introduced in 1996. The... 2.5 L pushed the power up ... to 206 kW (280 PS; 276 hp)... could accelerate from 0-60 mph (0–96 km/h) in 5.3 for the 5-sp manual and 5.7 seconds for the 5-sp INVECS-II tiptronic.

From another thread on here: tiptronics are 260bhp, and manuals are 280bhp, after 98 they were facelifted and all 280bhp.

For comparison, my 330ci E46 manual is 227bhp and book 0-60 is 6.3sec.

Appears the 90% of the cars in the UK are th tiptronic? Type-S with AYC appears to be the one to go for as well as the most common?

They all rust for fun, even the RalliArt franchise imported ones that got underseal.
