hello all, looking round for new tyres for the front of my s2, been told it is ok to go to 195/55/16 instead of 175/55/16, apparently a few s2 left the factory like this? was going to put toyo's on this time will this be ok, thanks mac.

I think that you'd have to drop to a 50 profile with a 195 width (that's what I did when I changed tyres) otherwise the rolling distance would be too great , though TBH I'm not totally sure if it's unadvisable to go 195/55. Have a look on seloc, may have some info there.

You will need to fit 195(or 205/50/16 tyres to keep the same rolling radious as the 175/55/16 tyres.
Plus this size will offer up much more of a variety of different brands.

Need to be aware that it'll significantly change the handling too, if you'd not already realised that - The 175s were fitted so the cars tended towards mild under-steer instead of over-steer from memory, as that's safer/easier for the majority to deal with.

Wasnt 185 considered the ideal. i.e. didnt tend to favour under or oversteer ?
