I tend to be a bit squeaky so Ryanair is the norm.I flew Alitalia last week and it was a relevation.

I didnt have to cram a weeks clothes into a rucksack.
I didnt have to fight anyone for seats.
I got offered a coffee and biscuit.
I sat on leather.
It was empty so I could choose anywhere to sit.I had 10 window sets next to the emergency exit and only my wife to play footsie/elbow with
The seat reclined for god sake.
I had a pouch to put my daily mail, motroboat monthly and classic and sportscar in.
I didnt have to ask anyone to move so i could get me sandwichs out.

The revelation was that this plane actually accelerated like it should.I felt confident that it had reached more than my car does in order to take off, in fact I didnt have to sit theresqueezing the blood out of my wifes hand and waiting for the plane to lift its front wheels.I knew it would cos it accelerated like it should. The plane must have has a couple of V8s rather than those sowing machines taped to those ryan air planes.

The whole experiance made me relaxed to the extent that, I wanstnt the slightest bothered when we decended through the clouds and it wobbled a bit.I didnt even check the wings to see if they were flexing too much.i didnt check that those things came out of the wings to give us more lift. I didnt pray when we came into land. This Italian Pilot landed like it was his lifes mission to make everybody wonder wether we had actualy touched down.I think he would have been offended if we diddnt clap.

Question is .....will I ever go cheep again?I never did take more than my trusty rucksack.Old habits die hard and anyway Alitalia always loose your luggage.

Ironically ryanair actually have some of the newest planes around so your feeling of safety was misplaced. Ryanair may treat you like cattle but the planes aren't bad.

Talking about Ryanair,I am upset now .Ryanair have stopped flying to Palermo it seems. Now I am going to have to drive an extra 1/2 hour to Trapani, and their prices are not so cheep anymore. Maybe ill do the 24 hour drive a bit more.I do enjoy it and I can take loads of stuff in the boot and bring oil and wine back, hmmmmmm.
