S1 Partial Body Off - Advice Needed!

Im doing a partial body lift on my S1 as the chassis is in need of a thorough wire brush and paint, usual suspects particularly.... fingers crossed no welding and wont need to be a total body off as allegedly my car has had it done before, but guess Ill see once the full glory is revealed!
The seats are out, seat belt mounts off and Im working my way round the chassis/body bolts at the moment but cant seem to figure out how to get to the two either side of the console near the radio. Do I need to remove the centre console to get to them? If so does that mean removing the entire dashboard as its an S1? Any advice on the this and the partial lift mission in general gratefully received.

I had exactly the same problem (in an S3, so there might be a difference) and all I needed to do was remove the two screws holding the centre console in place and then it just pulled back. No need to take the whole dashboard off. It was much easier than I expected. It needed a bit of finger gymnastics to remove the bolts once the console was off though!

Thanks mate. I think it may be a bit more complicated for me as the console and dashboard are one piece!

It can be done without dismantling the dash.
My local garage did a body lift on mine ( an S2 ~ with the same dash as yours).
I provided them with information that I had gleaned from the internet.

I know it doesn't help but my s1 didn't have the bolts that you have , I was prewarned about them though , I just got my body off the other day, hope your chassis is ok !!

The mounting bolts on the upper chassis rail above gearbox was a feature of the s3/s4/v8 and wernt present on the s1/s2 (unless perhaps the car was fitted with a replacement chassis)

That's brilliant, thanks for the great links and advice. Great news probably don't have them after all! Will jack it up and see what happens.
