Please gather ideas for motoring related

here's a few to start with

  • Kielder forest

  • Cumbria. Perhaps get permission to park on the grounds of Holker Hall
    • long day
    • Two days

  • Anyone know a good fish and chip place by the sea that we would be able to park outside and then do a bucket and spade day
    • Holy Island/Alnwick(byff)
    • Whitby(Wendy)

  • Run through to Harewood House and meet up with the Leeds / York area folk. Harewood usually allows groups to park separately on the large grass areas. Lovely walks through to the lake, bird gardens, play areas for the kids (byff)

  • NE PHers convoy to PistonFest04 2nd - 4th July(possible group BBQ)
    • We could have a group camping area, some groups did this last year. I have a spare gazebo.

  • NE PHers convoy to BNG04 31st August(possible group BBQ)

  • Cars in the Park

From chrisj
  • Racemeets (such as GT's, sadly not at Croft this year)
  • Group gatherings with the Yorkshire contingent (already in hand I believe?)
  • The odd 'tunnel hunt'. Sort of like a treasure hunt, except the basic plan is to find as many tunnels as possible and make as much noise as possible!

From WD*
From minimax
  • karting
  • Druridge bay

I was speaking to someone who had been up and into Keilder Forest, apparently the roads are gravel - large chunks. The roads *should* be ok, but going into the forest is a no-no for most people here.

Alnwick Castle gardens (Alnwick Castle is Harry Potter Castle Byff ) are superb, we could go there and head further up North to say Duridge Bay or something? Fair distance for everyone from Middlesbourgh tho

I wouldn't worry about that. As long as the roads are fun I'd happily do up to 300 miles. I can't imagine planning anything local that would get anywhere near that distance.

How many people are planning to go to Pistonfest this year?
I didn't go last year cos it clashed with the Marcos Club's anual rally.
I can't commit to anything yet, but I'm interested.

Convoy to BNG '04 - Definitely.
We met up with some people at Washington services last year.

As for the other events, didn't WD* have some things planned already?
Fish and chips, making sandcastles, I love it all.
And I'd love it even more if I could drive my Marcos there....

Other ideas would be meeting at racemeets (such as GT's, sadly not at Croft this year), group gatherings with the Yorkshire contingent (already in hand I believe?), the odd 'tunnel hunt'. Sort of like a treasure hunt, except the basic plan is to find as many tunnels as possible and make as much noise as possible!.
Just a thought....

I'm up for anything.

A trip to Holy Island/Alnwick would be good, possibly combining the fish & Chips idea aswell.

Fish & Chips allways taste better eaten in sand dunes watching the tide coming in......hold on....we're still on Holy Island, feck!

I'm intrigued, why that quote?

As for karting, may I recomment Karting North East, just off the A19 on the A690 (near Sunderland)? The one in Middlesbourgh is a little too long and the twin engines take it out of you (plus it's not as "nice" as the one at Warden Law). I'm off there with a load of mates on Monday eve. I'm ready to come second again!

When's the next one them :bouncy:

Convoys are not permitted. I'm not sure of the specific law though. That is why I gave everyone a route before setting off from Teesside Airport. If the police stop people they can demonstrate that they were driving independently. A convoy is a group of cars that are staying together because they are depending on each other. We were together but that was simply because we were all heading the same way at the same time. Not dependant because each car could get to their destination independently.

I must join the TVRCC some time.

Yep, when I used to drive minis along with 3 of my mates we always used to get stopped for driving in convoy. But we allused to live in different directions.

Lets include the 4x4 day, thank you byff.

Those that have the required vehicle type can join in

Those who don't can have passenger rides. Mine has two seats spare.

Cars in the Park included above. Convoy is a must for this. I've been to many events at Harewood House and the drive in is nice. We'll have to find a convenient meeting point for those driving up the A19 to meet those coming through from the Newcastle area
