Is it just me thats having a bad time of things at the moment!
Just been to start car & it looks as though the imobiliser has failed.
Car works as normal, although the fuel pump stops running after about 3 to 5 secs after the ignition has been switched on. I dont think its the starter motor, its as though the imobiliser fob is having no effect!
Please dont rub it in any more & say use the spare, its something I just have not got round to purchasing yet.
Has anyone any ideas?
Is there a way of getting the car going??
The equipment is on a 96 Chimeara & its a Meta system, I believe these are a standard item.
I would appretiate any info, I dont fancy not having the car all weekend, it would mean gardening for two days, not even saved by the GP, thats not till 18.00.

Feelng not very green fingered at the moment.

I can't be sure, but I don't think the fuel pump runs at all when the immobiliser is active!! I know a guy with the same car a me, he has an immob and when he pts the keyin the ignition without turning off the immob nothing works at all! (Fuel Pump/Starter!) Whereas mine runs for 3 secs then stops until the engine is cranked!!

Could be you have a dodgy connection in your ignition barrel or in you wiring to the starter!!!

I will check that out tomorrow am, just have to leave the car out tonight, cannot push it back up our steep drive.
Will just have to drown my sorrows, not too much though, need to try & work out what to do with the car tomorrow.

Thanks for your advice tvraddict, must put a face to these names one day.

Thanks Guys, you were correct, I have just repaired the battery to starter cable, it had broken off at the crimped terminal.
Its brought the smile back

There are downsides though, gardening has been mentioned, but I need to go on a long test drive of course!

Thanks to my able assistant also, Cheers Stuart.

Thanks again
