Pain in behind not being able to post while all you buggers back home are in dreamland.
As I stated in the last post, NO!
I do like the F50 but it will be one of the last Fezzas in my garage if it gets in. It never seemed like a special car. More of a tool to boost sales for the other road cars.
I always had this feeling it was made for the kind of guy I saw driving one for the first time. A super rich Arab in his early 20s/30s. I have alot of friends from the Gulf States and the F50 was in many of their garages as it was considered a must. It was a Ferrari, it was the most expensive Ferrari and it was a limited edition Ferrari. Wouldn't really have mattered if the car was any good for these boys. They are not shy about showing you they have a few pennies to rub together and this car was a perfect tool to do just that.
I am not saying the car is bad though, I just think that Ferrari could have done alot better. Maybe an oportunity wasted. Then again the F40 is a very tough act to follow. Maybe they had to get a car out to celebrate the golden 50 and this was the result? The F40 was by far a more focused and outstanding car when it arrived.
Now, as for the styling, not really a fan. It does stands out but it just seems like a posers car. It looks like an ex professional athlete. Still in decent shape but maybe a step or two off and hints of middle-age spread around the belt line.
Naturally, IMO of course.

Not really had much experience of either so can't post with hand on heart.
However, EVO tested both recently and came to the conclusion that the F50 was a superior machine to the F40.
It seems like a very focussed car. I can't really think why it's become a bit of a chestwig chariot.
I don't which I'd rather have, probably have to drive them both and see!

I think much of it is to do with the styling.. to some it looks like it's been in the sun too long and melted.. to others it looks just like a childs-bed in the shape of a racing car..
Think you might be on to something here...
Mara, have you read the Evo article yet? They really seem to rate it. I'll be bringing it back to NY with me if you want to borrow it.
You are indeed "the man".
How did the drive go?
Good news this end. My mate just decided to move into my apartment(bad news). However, today we are going to buy his Mitsubishi EvoVIII and tomorrow it's having a roll cage put in(surely good news). He's away as often as I am so the garage here is starting to get interesting.

Drive was very good, now know where the best roads are in NY area. As soon as you find yourself in something with four wheels and a full tank go straight to Route 301 to Cold Springs from the Taconic Parkway (I-84) and drive up and down it till the brakes are cooked...

A roll caged Evo VIII??? In Miami? Don't recall seeing many corners when I was down there last but I'll trust you to go find them...
