Puncture repairs.

What do people use to fix punctures when out on the bike?
I've found patches like leeches work fine on a MTB inner tube but on a Road bike I tend to just carry a spare. Do people use repair kits with glue etc? It seems like a long process.
I always just replace the tube, I carry two with me and a couple of glueless patches if I've been really unlucky.I've found patches like leeches work fine on a MTB inner tube but on a Road bike I tend to just carry a spare. Do people use repair kits with glue etc? It seems like a long process.
I'm not too arsed about patches on the MTB but the thought of them long term ona roadie tube has always worried me slightly!
I do my best to glue and path the tube. Reason being that you need to locate the er.. location, to ensure that there is no piece of glass or metal still embedded in the tyre.
The last one I had, I could see the piece of grit still sticking into the tread, so I didn't even need to remove the wheel, just pulled the tube out at that point.
The Park Tools patches don't always work for me, I have to say.

I carry two spare tubes in my jersey pockets and a repair kit just in case the very worst happens. Gernerally I've only ever had to replace one tube on the road but you never know - hitting some broken glass could see a double puncture so the repair kit is contingency should that happen. Also, it's good to be able to sort someone else out who is in trouble; is amazing the number of people I see srcatching their heads beside a flatted bike.

Why do punctures happen when you 'forget' to take your spare tube/kit. Happened today when I went for my usual 2 hour trip Glasgow/Erskine Bridge and back. Got a 1 inch screw fully embedded in the tyre and it punctured both sides of the inner tube
Guess who will be taking a spare tube in future.
One thing I was impressed with I had 3 offers of help withing 5 mins of starting to walk ; which was most appreciated as otherwise I had a 10 mile walk back home
A great Italian guy (living in Glasgow) gave me his spare inner and helped me change it and wouldn't take anything for it
Only 2nd time I've had a puncture (first was 2nd outing for the bike); both times I've not had a kit or a spare; sods law again.

Me too.I went down a

I always carry a spare tube you can pick up tubes cheap enough now for a couple of quid so it makes sense to have a stash at home.
I also use top peaks flypaper which is very cheap at 2 quid for 6 patches. Ive had cause to use these a couple of times and the patch lasts for about a week until it starts to leak again.
