Was just checking this out myself. My V8S has a Rollcentre/Tower View bar and had considered what it might look like in an 'aluminium' finish. Whether I get it done though very much depends on price!

Now that I've got dependants, I'm feeling my mortality. Hence now seriously considering getting the rollcentre rollbar fitted. Out of curiousity, how are you guys finding the response from insurance companies?
I've been with Norwich Union for the last four years (cheapest for me), their first response was "no, we can't insure you". Having convinced them that rollbars don't improve the performance or handling of the car and simply help stop me loosing my head, they finally offered me cover for an added premium "because it's a modification".

The cost was as follows...
"Aluminised" bar £450
Carriage £15
Fitting £200
+ VAT
= total of £782
Plus I had no problem with Tesco insurance
Edited to add:
I'm surprised insurance companies care, as a a rollbar was a factory fit option on the chim anyway, just like air con. So if you had it on from new they'd not know.

I rang Sunninghill and asked about fitting a roll bar, they rang my insurance co (Royal & Sun Alliance) and there was no problem and no increase in premium, I just have to write and tell them when I get it done and what the value of it is.
Regarding the cost of the Aluminium Roll Bar, it works out at £489 as compared to £450 a year ago, so I'm not too upset now !
By the way, fitting is now £350 + vat
