Here's a question for you........ I just got a bill for servicing me BM. First time I've been to a BM garage for this and when I finally got the invoice I nearly died.... they charged me.......wait for it, wait for it... £68 + VAT for 6.5 litres of oil, so that £80 or £12.30 a litre..

So, can I go back to them and demand a reduction as this is way beyond a reasonable market price or should I just go and smash all their windows?? Suggestions on a postcard please.

Ted, we need a Faint smiley! I think you should go and smash the mechanics face in!

I changed my oil yesterday! £11 something Pence for 5 litres of oil and I only used 3.5 litres!! I did get the oil VAT free though!! it should have been £14.99!!

You should take the oil out, bottle it and put it on your mantle piece! Oil that expensive shouldn't be flowing round an engine!!!

if we were to smash windows even half the number of times this kind of thing happens then glass manufacturers would be so wealthy, it would be worth investing in those company's.

Demand a reduction, and then, if you still want to, smash the windows... I'll be the lookout!!

Please go back to the garage and question what oil they use and quirey the price as I'm sure they will have a "perfectly reasonable" explaination!
Post the answer, I for one would love to hear it!
We have to use a Mercedes supplied fully synthetic oil for the Trucks at work and even that doesn't come close to that price. I think they are taking you for a mug! Good luck.

Hmmmm...

If they use somehting like Mobil 1 though, then that comes at £40 for a 4-litre can. Two of those they'd need to fill your car, hence £80.

They should leave you the spare 1.5 litres tho for top up in the boot at least, seeing as you've paid for it. At least that's what use to happen with my Mazda.

Are BM one of these companies who insist on using a little known oil (no doubt of german origin) no one has ever heard of, probably owned by BM anyway?????

Even Mobil 1 isn't that bad at £30 per 4 litre retail or £26 at Costco.

The TVR dealers also have the ability to sell it at the right price not over inflated.

nope it is fully synthetic castrol stuff which is £35 for 4 litres, £12 is probably about right for the retail price.

I got charged £120 to change the oil in my cerb once, synthetic is a rip off but essential. Although with 6k intervals it does seem a waste when it could easily last 15k!!!
