As it says, can anyone recommend a photo quality printer (ink jet?) for under £100? Or am I floggin a dead horse at that kind of money.

Cheers!

You'll be surprised what you can get for that price. They might be a bit slow, and they won't do skin tones too well.. but check out Epson printers at your local store. Spend another £70 nd you will be very surprised.

But remember it's the paper what counts. Use the expensive stuff (that matches the printer) and results will be good

(Do I get cred for that Mr Epson?)

I'll repeat the paper tip... if you hunt around (or just try Amazon.couk) it's not actually that dear. I'm using Verbatim photo glossy = £10 for 100 sheets. Quality very very good

I just bought an Epson R300 for £116inc VAT from Novatech and Im very happy with the results.

I know its a little over your budget. it was over mine too but its definitly worth the money (if not more).

Read the spec on it and you'll see why.

They both look good in reviews, I'll take a wander down to the shops later this week to get a demo.

Ongoing costs is an issue, I bought a Lexmark a couple of years ago for presentation work, cheap to buy, but a fortune to run.

Any more?

Running costs vary a lot. HP and Lexmark cartridges include the print head and so are much more expensive than, say, Epson or Canon. Also, it's much easier to get compatible cartridges, eg Jet-Tec, if you want to save money. It might also be worth condsidering a printer which has the colours in seperate tanks, so you're not throwing away 2 colours just because the 3rd has run out. The Canon i560 wins in all these respects, though it does snatch the paper rather rudely and takes a long time to turn on and off.

Picked up a Lexmark P706 in WHSmith just after Christmas for £30 - frankly we were astounded at the photo quality (on the paper supplied).
