Hi Guys,

Good news my s1 elise has survied winter, I managed to drive it everyday since christmas and had no problems starting or running (even with 4" of snow on it bit tail happy at times but hey its all good fun) ok so the problem, on the last very cold spot we had my locks as usual froze but on this occation the drivers door lock has effectivly never unfrozen. basicly im having to unlock from the passenger side and reach across, the key goes into the barrel and has a slight movement left and right but will not turn, the key goes all the way in and the button can be pressed in with ease, any ideas?

also iv been offered an s2 03 plate 111s in silver done 43k, its full history and in good condition, what would you guys say its worth iv been offered it at the same bmw offered him which is £10,700 what do you think its actual worth.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Try cleaning the lock out with parafin or similar then when dry use a dry graphite lubricant, do not use any wet lubricants as they will attract grit & you'll end up with the same problem

As for the S2 111S £10700 is a very good price indeed, assuming all is well with the car wink

Hi, I've got the same problem with my s2 on the drivers side, after a closer inspection from the disc reflector on the end of the door there is a white bit of plastic that engages the lock from the key cylinder and mine seems to have broke. did you manage to fix your problem?

I bought a well looked after 03 111S 2 years ago for £13,750 and thought that was about OK, I don't expect that its depreciated more than a grand or two (or ever will for that matter), so I would have said thats a great price if its in good nick - Have a look at the classifieds, the cheapest 111s on the classifieds here is north of £13k

Hi Yer I did manage to fix it, after taking the disk off the end of the door I watched how the mechanics worked and like you was having problems with the white bit of plastic, I sprayed the back inside and around the barrel with wd40 and after alot of pressing it did release took about 40 mins thought.

if its broken its going to have to be a new barrel id of thought which is alot and unless you buy two you will have to have two keys.

Happy fixing.
