Ok,I have'nt used my Elise in weeks, started it up today, works and sounds fine.Only before I set off on a spin I check my coolant level and it's gone, absolutley nothing in the header tank.Although the bottom of the tank is still wet,so it has'nt evaporated.

Is this just a case of getting some more, sticking it in and see what happens?.....or is there a complicated bleeding procedure that I have to perform.

The last time I used it,about three weeks back, all seemed fine the engine certainly was'nt overheating and the car performed well.I don't use the car as an everyday car, just weekends,so this has me puzzled.

Can anybody think what the problem maybe, any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.

look around for coolant, it doesn't evaporate. Check dipstick for mayo, check undertrays.. Just generally look around. It must have gone somewhere.

Thanks guys,I've looked for it,believe me,I park in the same place all the time and there's absolutley nothing there.Maybe it's just gone down past the header tank into the hoses.

Anyway I topped up today and so far all ok there does'nt seem to be a drop in the level, fingers crossed, lol.

Excatly the same happened to me - one minute there, next minute gone!

couldnt find a drop anywhere underneath the car and no sign of anything in the oil or on spark plugs.

Interestingly when I plucked up the courage to start the car......it all came back!

Mine did need bleeding though as got some air in there but all seems fine now.

Loads of stuff on Seloc - few people recommended having the inlet manifold gasket checked as sometimes they can leak coolant into the chamber, where you wouldnt see any contamination in the oil.
