hope this will help as I have similar problems when trying to take water cap off.You need a wrench or big pliers but be careful when you turn it as the cap is a bit slippery, don't want you damaging the paintwork now do we??

Try loosening it when it is hot - <b>BE CAREFULL THOUGH, only LOOSEN it a BIT, too much and you will get hot water/steam blasting over you! <b>

Once it is loosened, let it cool down completely (i.e. leave it for hours not minutes) and then you should be able to get it off. When you put it back on make sure you dont tighten it up too much

Alternatively Leven Technology do replecemtn caps with a chunkier grip on them which may help

I've been having a bit of a battle with mine for the last 4 weeks since it was done up rather tightly at the 18,000 service. Finally got it off this afternoon but had to apply so much force I was worried it’d snap the metal filler neck.

I’ve applied a very small amount of grease to the thread and now it comes on and off far more easily.

Rather than try and open the cap when the car is very hot, leave it for half an hour or so. That way the cap will still be warm and easier to remove but you won't get water spitting out at you. Just remove the cap "slowly".

Also make sure you do it up "hand tight" as tight as you can.

Leven caps are the way to go. I heard about the difficulties with the old caps and got Leven caps from day 1 I took delivery.
