2-11 to exige s

The OP did actually mention performance pack, but Tim, you are right, an Exige would be noticeably slower than the 211 on track pace, but I wouldn't personally want to drive long distances to and from tracks in a 211. with performance pack.

An Exige will be slower though for sure - it weighs more, regardless of whether it has a PP or not.

I haven't driven a 2-11 but have an Exige S (with PP!!). The Exige (on track) felt very lardy immedietly after my S1.
The 2-11 is a wonderful looking machine and I'm glad Lotus made it (and people like Jo bought 'em) but if you want to drive your track car to the track then I still reckon the S1 takes some beating.
Of course it'll need some choice mods but with a supercharged Honda then it should show a 2-11 a clean pair of heels.
Of course I don't suppose that really helps the OP who's probably trying to make a purchase decision.
You're certainly getting more for your buck by going Exige S in terms of usability.
I had a 340R and that was bad enough even with it's full windscreen.
You'll need a PP at least. 220s are not that quick anyway.
Other options, buy a N/A and bolt on a katana kit,or maybe find a Exige 260.
IMO though, if you want a fast track car with option of aero screen or full screen with roof...it's got to be a R400/R500

just a thought but a 220 S with this pack fitted would be getting you closer for not a lot of bucks?

The Exige S is compromised on track performance, sure. But it's pretty much a perfect *road* car IMO. I wouldn't want to do 400 miles in one day in a 2-11, and if I'm being honest, in midwinter, I don't fancy the same trip in an S1 Elise either.
The Exige S (with PP or without, doesn't matter on the road much - just put a freer-flowing exhaust on the 220 and it feels quicker at the top end anyway) is a superb touring car that can also mix it up with more dedicated track machinery. It's a finely judged compromise. It's truly a car for all seasons AFAIAC, I love mine. It does it all.
If you're looking to buy a third car for trackdays and the odd Sunday summer blast, then you're wasting an Exige S, which is good enough to be used every day all year round (with appropriate tyres in winter, of course).
The 2-11 is the car for the other requirement. Or a Caterfield. Or, if you want to annoy everyone else on the trackday, get a Radical or similar and make everyone have to slow down on every straight to let you past, so nobody can get a clear lap

And remember it's all relative. Those people saying that the Exige S is 'lardy' and 'slow' on track... well it may be compared to a lightweight S1 with a Honda engine, but the bog-standard Exige S is still a bloody quick road car on track, it's cheap to run on trackdays and it'll be a LOT faster than most other cars out there. You *can* go quicker, but don't go thinking the Exige is a slow car that will get monstered by everything else on any trackday you attend...

Can't argue with that but coming from a 2-11 it will feel heavy. It just doesn't have the lovely chuckability that something a bit lighter has.

I'm planning on one of these http://www.oakmeremotorgroup.co.uk/lotus/offers/vi...
Been speaking with Paul up there
Given me food for thought.
Was also toying with the idea of a R400. However, not entirely sure whether this will meet noise regs at Bedford which is my nearest track after Oulton (until hopefully Donnington reopens). I know that 300bhp exiges are faster (at least on the straights) than a 2-11. Personally I think it is the brakes on the 2-11 that I would miss most and would be willing to sacrifice some speed for a car that I could drive to more distant circuits (cannot store trailer on my property.
To Sumshi-no real idea as to what I would want for it (launch edition registered in nov 2007 with stage 1 exhaust 9000 miles). However, with Spring approaching I'm hoping its value will increase.
