Everyone,

I'm currently undertaking an MBA project and would welcome feedback from current Tuscan owners (only) please. I have a couple of questions to pose:

1. How would you describe the relationship between the TVR Tuscan and its nearest competitors (you define who you consider competitors to be)?

2. What do you consider to be the next step which TVR should take with respect to innovation and new product development?

Your responses would be most helpful !!

Thanks
Bryan

Jeez that's a hard one (er, 2)...

1. how do you define "nearest competitor"? By price, performance, looks, what?

I suppose most of us (well I did) by a TVR for 3 main reasons - looks, performance and price.

Nearest competitor by price must be, then, the Porsche Boxster S

Performance wise the Tuscan trounces it.
Handling the Boxster S lags behind slightly but is more driveable near the limit
Safetly wise the Porker has ABS, TC and air bags - the TVR has none of these.

Having owned both (well it was a standard Boxster) I'd go for the Tuscan, but with a few extras as mentioned below.

2 Where should TVR be heading

Certainly I believe some of the points raised in Q1 should be addressed - ABS, TC (switchable of course) and maybe consider other safety devices.

I wouldn't want to lose the raw edge that TVRs have or the competitive pricing but as options these items would make the marque appeal to more drivers.

Design wise I think they are doing fine, but maybe a "proper" targa roof for the T350 would be better than 2 sections. I think the Sagaris looks great in the flesh, but may be a bit too wild looking for most tastes.

Performance wise, not many drivers can honestly claim to be masters of their car so I think that element is fine as it is.

Hope this helps

I'd like to see more options on the Tuscan as well; spending the extra wedge on this would not bother me at all as the main reason for me buying one is cos' I love the design and "feel", not due to the price (although it does help...!).

Bryan

Having recently completed my MSc I know about the challenge of research! If I can offer some help I will. I can't remember how to do this malarky off line - so I'm RO East Sussex. Get in touch if you want to.
PS I think we share the same dealer, so maybe interesting to share comments offline!

Motoring at this level is an emotive subject. I have has a Porsche Boxter S and some years ago an Aston Martin DB5 (company car). My observation is that the Porsche looks the business but fails to deliver the raw edge that the Tuscan S has. You ask whre TVR should go - a Typhon with a Targa roof!
