First of all, I didn´t see that engine at Autosport, I saw two other ones, but those using older FZR 1000 cylinder blocks and heads. There´s something strange about this engine. Considering that it´s got a flat crank why do they use that crossover "180 degree-like" exhaust system? I suppose that it has a flat crank to get all the advantages of exhaust tuning and to use the standard cams from the R1. The only way to get all the scavenge advantages of the 4-1 system is in a 180-180-180-180 degrees scheme so why to use the strange configuration seen in that pic.
p.s.Maybe I´m missing the point and it´s got a cross plane crankshaft, but that would be very strange for a racing engine.
BTW, have you got another pics?

If you can get hold of a copy check out the Oct 2003 edition of 'Cars & Car Conversions' as they did a great article about 3 different bike based V8 engines. The original idea came from Russel Savory who developed the FZR1000 based engine in the early 90's, he is still working on the project under the Motopower name. There is also a 2.6 V8 being developed by Maxsym who are using 2 Suzuki Hayabusa top ends.

One of the bike mags (probably 'Bike' ) featured a home-brewed bike that had a Rover V8 in a Norton Featherbed frame, with a belt drive to the (pre-unit) gearbox. The owner asked them to be careful, but sure enough they broke it

Hardly surprising. Wonder which bit they broke, the belt, tranny or engine?

Could that be made to fit a car? Like, if I bought a n/a mr2 with a dead engine, and did the swap? or any small light car for that matter?
At the '04 Autosport Show, a Caterham was displayed with one of these engines (or similar) it had been produced by 'The 7 Workshop', whose website you can find via google. I believe the engines retail around the £15k mark....
