CD Player in an S?

I still have the original cassette player in my car and want to update it.
I had an MX5 years ago and the CD player would often skip when I went over a bump in the road. I assume they are better now but I wondered whether you had any recommendations for a decent CD player that doesnt cost a fortune but doent skip either?

I have been using one of those cassette adaptors that fits into my phone to play mp3 files - but I find I hear that annoying sound when the phone changes to the next transmitter. Drives me mad.

Pretty much every CD player you can buy now would work fine to be honest. I've got a JVC headunit in my car, skips a little over the bumps but I don't mind. MP3 is the way to go without any skipping.

I put a JVC in mine too, cerb has a 12 disc which is fine too. Don't tend t use them much though.

Alpine iADX100 in mine.. iPod and Radio only though.. very nice..

I have got a JVC unit Cd player with Dab and Mp3 connectivity.

Did have some Cds in the car when I first bought her,but soon found out having the roof off and travelling at many leptons that most things just get blown out.

Never really used it since to be honest.

Cheap Pioneer unit, cost me about £120 - CD player never skips and works a treat.
As with everyone else, only tend to use it on longer drives and when the roof is up, I would still use it enough to replace it of it broke, so i guess I would say yes, go for it

Can't remember the make of my CD player, it's pretty basic but doesn't skip. When I got my car the speakers were not working and the speaker grills were missing. To tidy the interior up I fitted some new speakers and while I was at it replaced the broken ash trays in the doors with a pair of tweeters. Now sounds amazing even at reasonably high speeds. Don't use it much though

Just got a Sony for my old motor as Halfords have a sale on. Fleebay for ISO connectors as when I lifted up the centre console, I just put it back again. So many wires. Where to they all go?
Thought if I get rid of the multiple bullet connectors it will make life easier if I want to change the unit again. Also got a new electric aerial as that doesn't work either. Looked at Maplins (not the hi de hi holiday camp). Not really thought of them before, but seem to be a reasonable price. Just hope it fits

I've fitted a cubby hole in place of the radio (it is called a DIN pocket)and sourced some speaker grilles with great difficulty. I could sing but it would have to be raining heavily to simulate the shower at home.......

Oh Tom, I`m having a bad time at the moment, job hunting !!. The S is having a bit of a bonnet removal clean up as well, if all goes well though a team of wild horses wont stop me from going, I wanna hear your car too !!!

Oh, sorry to hear that, good luck with the hunt! I would offer to help with the car should you need any, but Wales is a little far from me!

I need to get the bonnet off and clean up too but i'm lacking a garage so I'm currently using the rain to test my water proofing efforts. Early indications show I have failed miserably! The list of jobs to do never ends...

I've been meaning to start a new thread about the leaks for ages so I'll do that rather than hijack this one.

On the CD player front, I can't hear the radio at anything above about 2500RPM and even then there is a nice whine from the ignition system.

Exhaust is more than enough though
