New to the forums and just gearing up to hit the lotus dealers!! With this in mind what negotion is there for prices with them and what should i be paying. i.e if its on for 14k some less specialised cars you can start at 11k!!! Dont want to start it too low for obvious reasons. Am looking for a 111s, 03-05 and i imagine between 20-35000 miles!! looking at around 14.5-15 k!!

help please

thanks guys

Bit like buying a house, start at a point you think is silly and work your way from there. Can't back track afterwards. I looked at a new fiesta ( I know, not a Lotus !!!) said I'd give them £8.5k for a car they had on for 11K. They gritted teeth and I gave them my number, they called 2 days later and I bought it for £8.5k. I know Loti aren't as common as a fiesta, but if the dealer needs to move stock, then he 'may' take a cash value well below the belt. My theory is, there is always another if they don't move. Don't listen to sob stories, your the punter with money...........

I suspect you're destined to be disappointed on the discount front. Don't expect much movement, especially on S2111S as there aren't that many around - you're budget is pretty good anyway, so look to get extras maybe instead of a flat discount - service, new tyres, armourfend, that kind of thing.

And look at private cars as well, you may find you have more choice that way.

was suggesting that would give you an idea of the typical asking price, the work from that.

'ticket' price in a dealers can be somewhat random, so hard to give a sensible figure without knowing the detail of the specific car.

Prices seem pretty solid at the moment, with a lot of cars going abroad being the main cause.
Which is good on one hand but the flipside being all the best ones get snapped up straight away for France,Germany etc.
Good luck with the search.

For my 10p worth, I've always done any deals/offers over email, not phone, there is no misunderstanding when it comes to the final transaction, it's all in writing!!

I made several offers on Loti's and got a v good deal on the one I have as a result,
No having to listen bullst sales talk, I was lucky regarding that as the sales chap I bought from is a genuine fella, he gave no bullst!

If something is 15k and worth it compared to the rest you've seen, then offer a grand less, if you've seen better for not much more than the 15k motor, offer 2k less, if they say no, then look at the better one and make an offer. Bottom line, keep talking to them, make offers, see how long it's been for sale.

ooh i like you please say that again in two years time when i change mine and it has 60k miles on it!

only thoughts, but heading into spring so in theory discounts may be a bit sparse (yes im looking outside whilst typing this!) as may decide to hold on until warmer climes to get their price, but equally if the rumours are true about the s3 elise then there will possibly be quite a few come available as people trade for the new version.
