i had a thing for elevated chainstays back in 1992


a guy rides a cro-mega as a commuter at my office, every time i walk past i see these

and the memories come flooding back!

I hate you!!! A Yo Eddy would be a dream bike alongside a Jellybean! Theres a 93 Shock-a-billy frame with Judy SLs on E-bay at the moment. If it were your hard tail I'd have snapped it up.

Blimey - A Kirk Revo!! Do you remember the old carbon fibre Trimbles? I remember camping next to a couple of guys sponsored by them at the Malvern Hills classic in 91 or 92.

Mate had an Alpinestars with a Girvin Flexistem and 1st gen gripshift (awful) back in the day. I remember going to teh Malverns thing in 1993, seeing all sorts - stand out was a Fat Chance Yo Eddy with the Tioga disc wheel and all sorts of bling. Oh, and a lightning paint jobbed Klein. Awesome.

i should state that i owned neither of those bikes, they were just objects of desire when i was 13!

did anyone have a slingshot (the one with what looked like wire for a down tube) I only saw one once at a race....

I remember seeing that!!! Think it was at the same Malverns too. Was an awesome looking thing to my young eyes.

I had a carbon fibre Mongoose IBOC(Internation Bike of Champions-nicked the idea from Camaros with their IROC's) when I was younger. this frame here

Had a Kirk Revolution frame too-gave it to my mate who got some bits for it from a former Kirk rep but he never built it-I wanted to make a rat out of it but he wouldn't sell me it back

I also had one of these prior to my handjob, disc only with a non IS disc on the rear which was a bugger to get parts for. Rode lovely though

IIRC those Kirk frames weighed a fair bit.

I also remember the lighting Klein - really miss the Malverns, fantastic atmosphere (up until 'that' night) and a great race & party.

Bike history for me though I can't remember all the years;
Raleigh Mirage
1990 white Kona Lava Dome built up with full XT and Tange switchblade forks
GT Zaskar complete with U brake
Kona Hei Hei titanium
Roberts custom with Rock Shox titaniums (£500 fork back then)
Trek OCLV (went through 4 frames in 8 mths as they kept breaking)
Kona Hei Hei titanium
GT Psyclone built with XT, XTR and Cooks racing - my fave ever bike - snapped on the seat tube, the supposed strongest point on a triple triangle (I was a little hard on the bikes back then)
GT Zaskar LE
Specialized Stumpie XC FSR

I also had an R600 - Deep red and had 105 on it from what I can remember and I sold it around 1997.

A mate of mine still has his Adroit in Sunburst (prefer Gator though - http://www.oldklein.com/kleinit/AdroitGator.htm);



It's a bike I keep trying to prise away from him. Main trouble is it has Kleins old oversized headset and b/b so very hard to find replacement parts, especially to uprate with a modern fork! It cost him a fortune back in the day as the Adroit was the Rolls Royce of MTBs.
