200 cars to crash on Sunday at Wimbledon

The bangers are back at Wilmbledon on Sunday for more mayhem. Wimbledon’s Plough Lane stadium plays host to the crashing at 6pm on Sunday when almost 200 National Bangers will demolish each other in the all-action London Open.

To keep the racing as fair and exciting as possible all the Bangers at this event will be limited to under 1600cc, leaving the cars evenly matched and the result down to driving skill (coupled with extremely violent use of the front bumper and the ability to dodge multi-car pile ups) rather than sheer engine power.

The London Open draws the best Banger pilots from around the country to Wimbledon Stadium. With a grid full of star drivers, all determined to add the prestigious London Open title to their CV the action is guaranteed to produce spectacular pile ups and all-out automotive mayhem that soon reduces the  immaculately prepared cars to twisted heaps of scrap metal.

One of the most dangerous sports of our time. Like the lions and the christians except that we throw our heroes into rotten, dangerous missiles and wonder why they occassionally don't come back.

That said with 2 million cars being scrapped every years and breakers charging money for their disposal this might catch on.

I'm organising an unofficial banger race in every or any tesco car park on every third sunday night, where I attempt to destroy every piccasso that was ever built using an old Ford Granada with false plates.
