Inspired largely by D4VE 3LL's awesome low flying photo thread and the website http://www.lowfly.net/ that was recommended, I was wondering if anyone can recommend some other interesting locations in the UK for photo opportunities (and a pleasant drive in the process)

The lowfly site covers Wales, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Scotland. That's a pretty big area for lots of driving.

Have you looked at warplane.co.uk?

Also where are you based?

We get lots of warships and nuclear subs here (Between the West coast of the Highlands and The Hebrides... 'The Minch' - a popular navy practice ground). Saw a French Destroyer this morning.

Another cracking site, thank you for the suggestion. I'm in South Wales so pretty much all of Wales, Midlands and south of England is fair game for a day out.

I always think of Rhayader and the Elan Valley.

Agreed. From the Brecons and the Black Mountains up towards the Reservoirs in Rhyader are nice areas for photo taking, and frankly brilliant roads.
