Calling all Marmite lovers!
Discussion
I've not heard about anything recently. There seems to be a new one every once in a while though. For some weird reason I think I'm going to make millions on eBay, so I've got a couple of each of the ones they have produced stashed away - Guinness, Champagne and Marston's Pedigree (as part of the ashes series last summer).
TO be honest, I still prefer the original version, these special editions don't have enough kick for me. I do like Vegimite though, and sometimes have a jar of that in the cupboard.

Wont they all be out of date by now? (not that it makes much difference)TO be honest, I still prefer the original version, these special editions don't have enough kick for me. I do like Vegimite though, and sometimes have a jar of that in the cupboard.
Mrs R has commented on that, and I have two thoughts:
1) If these are collectors items sometime in the future and I make my millions selling them on ebay, whether teh contents are edible or not will not really matter.
and
2) Even if I w3as to eat this old stuff, I don't believe that marmite has a shelf life. I have had the odd pot knocking around for many years (open, with toast crumbs and butter added for extra flavour) and I would say age even improves it. I reckon the production process and salt content of Marmite means it's prety much intert as food goes, and certainly I have yet to be poisoned by it!

There is definitely something in the pipline, it's been going on for a while now. First whispers were a while back when the website was launched http://www.marmarati.org/ looking for marmite fanatics to be involved in the product development. As the resulting product is called XO (Extra Old) the rumours of it being aged can't be far off the truth.
Mmmmmmm Marmite

Mmmmmmm Marmite

There is only one Marmite.
The rest are transitory gimmicks invented by 20-somethings in marketing departments who want something to put on their CV, whilst wittering about 'market segentation', 'self-selling retail multiple outlets' and 'individually shrinkwrapped housebricks in pastel colours' for the female market.
Same goes for Lea & Perrins with a dash of lime etc.
Bah.

Walking therough Victoria station yesterday a rather attractive young lady thrust something at me. Turned out to be a free sample of the new Marmite Cereal Bar.
Quote "packed full of chewy oats, wheat and rice, but it's the great big smack of Marmite that makes it a different kind of cereal bar"
What they should have said is "we have recycled some used cat litter and shown it a marmite jar"
Sat at my desk now, with no hint of marmite lining my gullet to keep me going all morning. Instead, keep finding little bits of vegitation stuck between my teeth that I suspect will keep appearing for days.
Such disappointment.
I do however have 50 pee of a six pack should I feel inclined. Worth getting them just to irritate SWMBO (she does not embrace Marmite culture)
