Am I the only one that wants to shoot him in the face?
I'm sure you aren't however at the rish of a threadjacking a special place in my hell is reserved for the fat tt in the go compare advertsOh yes...!
The ads are annoying, I did sell a car with them and got a good price for mine, however I was very uneasy with the fact that you transfer your car into a debt to the company. i.e. you sell your car, sign it over to them and then they owe you the money which they do pay to you. However I had a very nervous couple of days whilst waiting for payment because if you read their terms and conditions, the car is gone and the company owes you money whilst you are waiting for payment. Thus if they fold you are fked and have no right to your car. The money they owe you would be sunk in the same way as any other company debt.
I wouldn't do it again, but I needed money at the time so I took the risk, but I am sure most people dont realise that for a short period of time you are at risk.
The service is useful if you have a car that is difficult to shift and I got more money than ALL the traders I asked to purchase direct. Online it quoted £13,245 I got £13,000 after they knocked me down a bit.
The other thing to be wary of is there is some sort of clause, which I didnt understand fully TBH whereby if the car suffers some sort of major breakdown you might be liable for it.
I think this service works better for higher value cars, ie over £10k as there is room for some profit for everyone and the seller to get a good price. Lower value cars dont have as much profit potential and thus the price differential is greater.
They also get a lot of scammers/idiots try to sell bangers as mint cars.
