Got my lovely 02 S2 Elise last week and had some fun over the weekenddriving I am a little concerned by a abrasive whirring noise when I back of the throttle and the gearbox is not under load. The car had a C service prior to me collecting and if it was a fault I would hope it would have been picked up then however I have a six month warranty with the car and want to make sure all is OK. Any advice or comments greatly recieved

AFAIK it's a case of TADTS - you've got very little sound insulation between transmission and cabin compared to a normal car so you hear a lot more of what is going on.

Don't worry, as stated above 'they all do that sir'

What you need now is a sports exhaust. That will fix itbiggrin

As has been said, TADT. I had the same concern when I first bought mine 5 years ago, I just tune out of it now. Changing the gearbox oil can help if it does annoy you, castrol tad-x is a good option

As S2john said above.

They All Do That (Sir)

Meaning it is a 'feature' of the car and if it didn't do it then you should be worried.
