What might we suggest as improvements on the S3 Elise. Here are a few of my ideas:

Less weight, circa 750Kg
LED lights all round or at least HID fronts + LEDs
Alpine speaker labels in black so that they do not reflect in your windscreen (I am going to get a marker pen on mine)
Emissions under 150g/Km
0-60 in 4s
0-100 in 10s
£25,000 base price
Ferrari 458 styling
Bigger alloys, but lighter of course

Start dreaming here!

Hopefully the Evora's price elasticity in the face of the recession will mean keen launch prices.

I'd like decent long lasting radiators and drift friendly steering lock as per the Evora...

At a guess. Base model will run the 1.6, I'm betting with a low pressure turbo, or that as an option. Then the 2l will be mapped up to give 200+ bhp with an option of a blown version to about 250bhp in time.

Expect to see some degree of hybrid or at least very low emissions/CO2 to keep ahead of the game. It will be 1000kg+ though I'll betcha.

I suspect they will drop the S version and just do the R and SC Elise and of course the Exige. Except nothing spectacular, this is Lotus at the end of that day.

Just looked up flights, can get there and back from my nearest (30min drive away) airport for £100. Give it about another 10mins and I'd have booked it!

I have been reading the times review of the Tesla

TimesOnline said:
Just as the car is being launched with right-hand drive, news has broken that production of the Roadster and Roadster Sport will end in late 2011, when Lotus, which builds it, will retool its Norfolk factory.
That would run with the style of Lotus announcements of late. Announce new model to start deliver in one year....

Soooo...
Esprit or Elise?

That's gotta be an all-new Elise then. With just under two years to get ready for the first cars and a type 111-based car ending production, it's not going to be for a reshell, is it?

I don't believe for one minute that this will be an all new Car, I'd say changes to set-up, new clams, engines, Interior, on the interior front I'm sure they are trying the new style seats in the Club Racer http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1485419.htm

You usually have a better idea than me about this but looking at the way things are shaping up.
They wouldnt have to re-tool the factory for simple body changes and simple body changes would not mean ending certain models like the tesla, they are already tooled up for that.
Yamaha have ended production of the 2ZZ and Lotus have purchased the remaining stock so a new engine is required very shortly. The current shape elise is 10 years old and though I think it is one of the best shapes on the road today it is without doubt "long in the tooth"

All the environmental influences are there for a S3 'liz.

Then again, they have been working on the esprit for bloody ages. I came face to face with a mule in 2005....

Agree,

It’s not the right time in the market to release Esprit, they need to concentrate on the Evora for a while to get that right

New chassis for sure - the VVA stuff is a lot stiffer and easier to repair when crashed - which is a major issue with the current chassis, too many getting written off, which puts insurance costs up, which puts of some potential owners.

As I said on SELOC, I'd expect to see a model released with their range extender/generator tech developed for Jag.
