For my V8S (1992). I’ve got a pair of Griff discs and a pair of Granada Cosworth callipers. Bolting them all onto the hub it looks like the centre line is 1mm off. (and yes, the wheel will still go on). Should this be shimmed off or will the floating carrier compensate? The standard pistons have a diameter of 54mm and the Granada ones are 60mm in diameter. The standard discs are 240mm and the Griff ones are 260mm. Will the brake balance be affected? Any other considerations? Thanks in advance for replies.

Wouldn't you be better off putting on Granada Cosworth Disks to match the callipers / pads.?

Just a thought..you have the expensive bit.

Cheers

Thanks for the steer. I'm confused now though as there are references to both the 260mm and larger Granada discs. Here are photos of the the Granada caliper with the Griff disc and the standard set up. On the standard set up the outter edge of the disc runs very close to the top of the caliper. On the Granada/Griff combo, there is a larger gap between the outter edge of the disc and the caliper. Does this mean the Griff disc is too small to work with the Granada caliper?

I am pretty sure your discs are not the ones for those calipers, the disc does run very close to the caliper if there's a big gap it doesn't sound right.
Have you got the brake pads? They will give you a good guide to where the edge of the disc should be.

Hi All.
As Chris said you need to look how the pads fit into the callipers and how they sit on the discs, looks wrong to me as most discs will be about 3 to 5 mm from the calliper and the pad should be about 2 to 3 mm in from the top of the disc when bolted up.
The one in the picture looks like the pads will stick out from the disc, disc and callipers are not easy to match up from donor cars, some fit perfect but other just don't and will be dangerous to say the least.

Yea 278mm vs 260mm I think.. if you want to put 260mm disks on the easiest way is with XR4 callipers which should bolt straight on.

The Granada / Escort Cosworth set up I and a few others on here have consists of :

Granada / Escort Callipers
278mm disks to match and some 12mm spacers to align the callipers on the disk correctly.

With 278mm on the front you really need to upgrade the rears too or adjust the bias as you may find it a little front biased.

I have Granada disks doing on the back too.

Thanks to all who replied including Hans and GreenV8S. I think this combo is a non-starter so with the unexpected expense of the new exhaust required for the re-furb I think I'll stick to the standard set up. Does anyone have a new or nearly new set of Sierra discs? If anyone is in the market for some very nice Granada calipers or new Griff discs just let me know. Thanks again PH'ers.
