'Pirates detained'?? They would all be knelt at the end of the ship and a round put in the backs of each head....if Cmdr Maxymillion had been running the show.

Haha, the EU grows some balls, albeit piddly little entirely risk-averse ones - all sounds a bit iffy that the danes were able to establish that all the crew were safely out of harm's before they took the ship, either the pirates were getting lazy and careless or maybe this is some kind of propaganda-driven exercise.
Oh and for those that are surprised the EU has its own Naval Force, please do keep up at the back - this has been going on for years in various guises. It's all in anticipation of the day when the UK tries to get out of the EU and is treated like a secessionist state and forcibly brought back into line.

Atalanta is another name from antiquity. It has been used on many occasions in more modern times. Armstrong Whitworth built an airliner in the 1930s called the Atalanta

These things come in via the backdoor. Next will be a UN style rebranding of military vehicles.

I bet they can't wait to pull the gold braid of Prince Phillip.

Can safe/panic rooms not be established on shipping in the area? Then if pirates attack, get everyone in safe room and send distress signal. This would give special forces an easier job of getting the pirates.
Probably not enough navy in this large area to support this though. The Danish action will surely send a message to the pirates.
