A truly depraved individual. He should be locked up and the key thrown away. Don't feed him or water him. Let him rot.
On a side note, this part of the article got me thinking:
Since when does the army use Xbox cables as part of the training regime? Is this why we are having so much trouble in Afghanistan?

The court was told that Smith strangled them with a cable from a games console, using a technique he perfected while in the army.

Though a more interesting question would be, why do so many ex-servicemen leave the army and end up living such disjointed lives?
TBH, I think the whole veneration of the military is bulls
t. I've met some great guys who have/would later become soldiers and I consider to be better men than myself. However I've met just as many I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. Giving the latter military training is probably a good idea if you just want to march them into an area and kill everything that moves, but is only going to cause problems when they're back on civvie street with limited skills, having been a grunt since they were 18.
They're just people like everyone else, but the comedown from being a soldier to a shelf-stacker must be a harder one to take than moving between call-centre jobs when you've never known any better.
