cerb/ tuscan bhp quotes

looking to get back in the fold with one of the above and curious as too how accurate the bhp quotes are for the relevant engines supplied in these? i know the rv8's were pretty inflated so wondered what was the real world readings.

From what I've heard they are all slightly inflated, but the S6 engines less so than the AJP8's

My AJP is quoted at 440bhp. It is 30 less than this at 411. So 7% down to factory figure. I could get it to over 440 with a remap and whirlwind.
All TVRs are overstated afaik.

Speed sixes seem to be more or less in line with the original power claims, unusually for TVR. Torque results have been down a little (10-20 lb.ft) on the rolling road results I've seen.

seem to remember reading the 4.2 cerb was closer to spec than the 4.5? so the speed 6 engines are generally regarded as being pretty accurate then?

I think S6s are variable? The Sag was quoted at 405bhp and then they dropped it to 380 at launch but I think it comes in at just under this?

4.2 and 4.5 AJP are not a great deal different straight out the box. Both between 350-370bhp, but the 4.5 opens the possibly for 420bhp+ with breathing and remap modifications.

Speed 6 seem pretty spot on.

The Rover units, now there is a different kettle of fish. They vary and can be quite below stated figures, but others can be not so below.

A healthy and properly tuned Speed Six generally makes the quoted power. AJP8's need some aftermarket tuning to get nearer the quoted figures and the RV8's simply don't without lots of work.

Late 6's seem to make good power, early ones less so. some of the early sags struggle to make 360bhp

Definitely need to differentiate between 4.2 and 4.5 when claiming the AJP8 sported inflated figures or not. Factory 4.5's were definitely ambitious, they needed to do that to make a decent argument for a punter to choose a 4.5 over a 4.2. The 4.5 can indeed now be made to make the claims (and more) with mods that have been developed by the tuners - 4.2 was always there or thereabouts, mine actually has made wee bit more, standard 4.2 and have 365 on Charlie's rollers when quoted should be 360.
