Did a night photography course with Nigel Wilson last night http://www.photographycourses.org.uk/ I learnt that it was the actual kick up the backside to get out and do it, and that location goes a great way to making a photo. Am pretty pleased with my results

No problem, D90 with Nikon 17-55 f2.8 lens.

First shot f4 3sec exposure, second f4 5sec exposure, third f4 8sec exposure, fourth f4 10 sec exposure.

All in aperture priority with some exposure bias changes as well.

I've some very similar shots from working round there. Great spot, and you've captured it nicely. Try Picadilly Circus for some good night shots!

Plan is to head into central London midweek around 1am to get it pretty quiet.

Nice shots, and the perfect location!

I went down with the family last year for the weekend. Once the kids were asleep (and the wife) I walked from Covent Garden down to Westminster to take a few shots in that area. Trouble is I was on my own and felt very self concious lugging camera gear around at 11pm...

From Westminster footbridge you can get the Eye and Big Ben in the same shot. It makes for a great view, particularly on a long exposure so the eye is blurred by it's rotation and the river gets smoothed out.

They are lovely shots.
I really must get myself out into a city centre for some night pictures.
