I have hot water but only if the thermostat is set to low (and then there is no heat from the rads)

If I turn the heating up the house gets warm from teh rads but then theres no hot water !


any ideas ?

What sort of system do you have?

Combi? System Boiler with tanks?

If a combi it might be a failed diverter valve.

Someone far more knowledgeable than me should be along shortly however.

its an old glowworm
i guess its combi
the controls are upstairs and separate form the box where the pilot light is

it's in a rental prooperty so sorry, cant give much more info than that

Is the valve motorised?

There is usually a lever on the side to allow a manual override

if the diverter is faulty I thought that you dont get any hot water at all ?

Depends at what position it's in when it fails

Look on Screwfix direct website

IIRC thay are about £20 ish and take about 20 mins to change over.

On mine you can remove the motorised part without having to touch the plumbing or undo any pipes.
