Just sat in the Elise derived Tesla and found it easier to get in and out of because Tesla lowered the sill by 3 inches.

Why doesn't Lotus just do it on all of their Elises?

at a guess, weight and chassis rigidity (or loss of)

Yeah, the sills are the main structural element of the car... lose the sills, and you're cutting into your chassis rigidity. It's that simple.

If you want a fantastically communicative chassis, buy an Elise... if you want a car that's easy to get into and out of, buy a Micra/Range Rover/Bentley/.....
