Our politicians send all our soldiers to prison for being naughty and breaking the law.

The Government push forward another serious story to divert the public's attention from the issue, then hope it gets forgotten in a few months.

Nothing much will happen. Some pencil pusher might get sacked at worst.

If only our soldiers could send all our politicians to prison for being naughty and breaking the law.

There might be a token resignation, some high-level civil servant might fall on his sword, but I doubt if anything will be actually "done".

Surely, everyone knew it was illegal from the start. The AG said so. then he shanged his mind, to suit the Government. And most people were like head in sand "la la la la laaaa". Some Ministers resigned over it but nothing changed. And the fact that an Iraq Inquiry happened at all is because everyone knew it was illegal (although I thought "they" would use it as an opportiunity to cover thigns up).

Technically, soldiers are not supposed to follow illegal orders. I seem to remember a few officers actually did question the legality of the orders. Cant remember if anything came of it though.

When is someone classed as a "War Criminal"? Serious question.

Apparently only if you are the 'enemy' or your face appears on a deck of cards.

yes

The first defining rule must surely be that you are 'foreign'.

What if you're a home grown suicide bomber? Working on the side of your country of heritage?

I'm not sure that individuals, committing a single act, can be classed as 'war criminals'.

And my response was more tongue-in-cheek anyway. I was simply referring to the way, over the centuries, the British are quick to point the finger but seldom take any responsibility for their own actions.

I'm not sure what will happen but I have a feeling I will have to pay for it, whatever it is.
