Interior fan not working

Sadly Mike's right I probably am a recent expert on it.
Mine stopped before Xmas and I stripped out the dash to fix it. The fan's working fine now and I've got a variable speed controller on order to make it go infinitely variably from stop to max rather than off/slow/fast.
That's the good news. The bad news is that having the dash out has disturbed an earth somewhere and now the cars not working. Even worse news was that I didn't need to remove the dash anyway to do the repair.
The heater motor sits on the front of the heater box which takes up pretty much most of the room behind the centre of the dash. On my S2 you can drop down the fusebox cover in the passenger footwell and drop down/remove the side dash closing panel.
The plastic box with a curved end that you can see towards the centre of the car is the heater box. The fan motor is then at the front of this box on the passenger side. You can't see it but you can put your hand in there to feel it.
Follow the wiring away from the motor to a 4 way connector. You will need to go past the speed control resistor (a round lump about 20mm diameter and 40mm long) before you get to the connector.
On mine the earth wire feeding this connector didn't go to earth so I just had to run a new one. Once you've separated the connector you can run the usual diagnostics on the car end section. There should be :-
1. A low speed live wire, fed from the heater switch first position.
2. A high speed live wire, fed from the heater switch second position.
3. An earth wire.
4. This connector pin is not used on the car side connector.
On mine I don't have a low speed as the resistor is kn
ed. Hence the need for a new speed controller.
If everything on this connector is good then you need to feed 12v into the fan motor side connector and give it an earth to see if the motor will turn.
If it doesn't then you'll have to strip out the dash to remove the heater motor to either change it or to refurb it. On my S2 it's not as bad a job as it sounds. PM me and I'll send you a how to guide by return e-mail.

I got a few photo's as I worked, but at -3 degrees C I didn't spend too much time thinking about getting enough info to do a Sprint article.

And I traced my other electrical problem yesterday as well (I think). A loose connection on the wiper motor caused an intermittent fault that the wipers didn't work and all of the gauges went to MAX when you turned the wipers on.
It only took all day and I was pretty close to
offering it as bits on here. But it's fixed now 
I might even get to drive it next weekend.
