horn problems

my horn has stopped working on the Griff(pre cat)...changed the relay and still not working. the fuse is for the horn and interior light which is working fine so presume its not that. Any ideas of what else could be causing the horn to not work?

Have you been through any deep surface water?

Check for power at the horn...terminals can get corroded and horn can fail. If you have no power at horn (ignition on and horn button pressed) and power is at the fuse, then the horn push could be at fault.
Horn push is a push fit into the steering wheel, so work it out with finger nails(or screwdriver but take care not to damage anything), and you will see the spade connectors to it. Check for connection and power here, My horn push spade connectors used to regularly work loose.

Pop the horn push out and check from there by dabbing the red wire directly to the side.
Chances are its a earth problem at the column.

sorry meant to say i have already taken the horn push button out and it looks in good condition. i moved the wires around a little to see if the connection was loose whilst pressing the horn with ignition on and still nothing. not been through any deep water. might get another relay just in case

Hi as far as I can make out the earth for the horn goes via the top bearing race so if that is worn the horn does not work. On mine pushing the steering wheel to one side or the other takes up the wear and the horns starts working again.
