After just asking a mushroom question it got me thinking about other things. I love onion rings but dont have much time for the frozen ones. Any gourmet types here know how to make your own? Is it as simple as cutting rings, dipping in batter and frying? Or is there more alchemy to it?

Cheers

Thats about the height of it. You just have to decide if you want a beer batter or normal batter.

A very quick and easy way to make them is to dip the raw onion rings in milk and then seasoned flour before frying. You get a guaranteed crisp, light coating and no need to make up a batter.

A bit uncertain about 'much time for the frozen ones' when the alternative is making your own batter!

But, yes, they are exactly what you think they are. I believe you could also soak the onions in milk (?) to calm them down if you want. Either way, the filthy frozen ones are quicker.

And try using red onions as they are sweeter and milder smile
