You don't - do you??
Discussion
"Love" your camera, I mean.
I've just been over on a Nikon site, where (mostly US citizens, to place in context) someone started a [whiney american accent] "Why Do You LOVE Your Ni-ikon?" [/whiney american accent] thread. And then someone comes out and compares it to a BMW
...and there's general fauning and
.... ahem, stuff.
Well (you know me
) I just shot them down a bit - Pearl-Harbor-stylee - with my response.

Then again, any opportunity to yank a Yank's chain...
Does anybody "LOVE" their Ni-ikon/Canon/Othernicepieceofkitthatdoesthejob well?

No - I don't "love" Nikon.
I was a refugee from Canon in the '90s when they changed their mount and I decided I wanted the best range of options on glass. I've stuck with them since and, generally speaking, I find when I pick up a (or maybe some, but not necessarily all) Nikon it fits my hands quite nicely and most of the controls are intuitively easy to find.
As for comparison to BMW - I suppose there's some truth in that. You wouldn't find yourself "loving" a BMW any more than a cardboard box, but if it did the job, that's fine.
You "love" a (in my case) TVR, a Maserati, a DB5 - in that sense I suspect I might love a Leica. But definitely not a Nikon ! :-)

Absolutely no way. I've been a loyal Nikon user since the late 1980's, apart from a 2 month indiscretion with a Mamiya 7 which we don't talk about. I like my cameras, I respect how far they have developed and what I can achieve with them but I certainly don't love them.
Put it this way, they are insured and if they got nicked I'd be annoyed by the Nikons going but not distraught. I'd be heart broken if the old Hassleblad got nicked but that's due to it being Dad's handed down.
When Mrs CVP accidentally pranged the old Elise with our shopping car I had to walk away and calm down for a few minutes before looking at the damage (fortunately very little). That's the closest I've come to loving a piece of equipment
Mind you comparing my Nikons to a BMW is a bit off, my Nikons have been way way more reliable !
