Question from a novice about installing exhaust heat shield

I know this is an elementary question but please bear with me, I'm trying to learn.

I bought a Steve Heat exhaust heat shield for my 99 Chim. It seems pretty simply to install, even for me. I tried to loosen the relevant bolts on the PAS pump. Problem is that I just cannot loosen them.

It can't be that I'm not applying enough force because I tried so hard that I slipped and cut myself! Is it ok to spray with WD-40? I suspect my spanners are of rubbish quality but it can't really be that can it?

Not sure which guard you have but mine goes under the Swirl pot...

Why not contact me in the first place if you were having problems?


If the bolts won't undo, then the best way forward is to remove the fanbelt - remember which way it went - and then undo the three bolts that hold the pulley in place. Remove the pulley and this will allow you to get a socket onto the stubborn bolts and they should undo.

Once they have been slackened off, refit the pulley and the fanbelt and the heat shield will go on.
