Sag has been parked up underground for a couple of months during the snow etc. Due to re-emerge this weekend. I started it about three weeks ago and gave it 15 mins of variable revs to make sure it still remembered what to do, but am concerned that I may have a non starter when I go back to it this time. May be being paranoid because it was only marginally sluggish on the turnover last time, but best to consider the possibility..

Anyway, so that I'm prepared, am I able to jump start using the heavy duty lead which plugs in under the passenger footwell. This is the one I use to charge with the Accumate. I presume this is OK to do, and once running just pull that plug before disconnecting the clips from my other car.

Thanks for any advice

I have the same thing to do either this weekend or next as I have had the car stored away from home and its usual accumate. Be interested to see how you get on.

In the same situation here but maybe another month before it comes out, do you get a charging kit from TVR power etc ?. I think at the min we have just a normal trickle charger and need the andersson plug adaptor as we have not tried to charge the battery before.

The Accumate has an attachment that lets you plug it into the cigarette lighter socket. Leave mine plugged in all the time when not in use.

I tried starting mine after a month tucked away over XMAS and through the snow at the weekend. Alas, although the started motor tried to turn over, the engine didnt fire. The starter sounded very lacklustre so the electricity must have leaked out!

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to a plug socket regularly. But through an ingenious maze of extension cables stretching the full length of the car park I managed to get the thing charging overnight.

Once charged, I couldn’t get the starter motor to kick in unfortunately. I had to reset the immobiliser (passenger footwell, on the horizontal chassis strut under the carpet, found using the excellent Graham Varley manual clap). But once reset, the starter motor kicked in... and the engine started happily thereafter.

If it doesn’t fire once the battery is full, try the immobiliser as your next potential fix!

Thanks for the input. 2 days and counting and have now added the GV manual to the list of things I have to have with me. Anticipation is building, fuelled by the fact that I have to drive past it every day. It's starting to look out of place, as the cleanest car in the car park

Mine is stored away from home too, waiting until early March then service, A few essential mods, re-spray in Blackpool then driving

Hope the solar trickle charger has coped the last few months!

Well, not as straightforward as I'd have liked. Turned it over, starter sluggish and didn't fire, then the dreaded clicks. Left it overnight Friday and went back Saturday morning with big 4x4 and the jump leads. And here's the tip for the day if you are in the same position. Windows were down, doors unlocked but closed. Plugged in the jack, then as soon as I connected the leads to the battery the windows closed, doors locked and it didn't want to know they key. Tried unpluging and replugging the jack, but to no avail at first. After a while and a couple more attempts I got the hatch to pop open (doors were still firmly locked). Now the fun part, climb into the boot, crawl head first into the drvier foot well and plugged in the immobiliser fob. Held it there for 10 secs and got flashes from the dash and could then pop the door.

So the tip is, when the battery is dead, do not connect to an external battery unless you have a door open. This would have saved me a lot of time and some uncomfortable contortions.

Once fired the car is running fine and even restarted happily when I stopped for gas.

And OMG, it feels good to be back behind the wheel. You forget how good this car is when you've been away from it. Bliss
