What Camcorder?
Discussion
Hi there,
I wonder if you folks can help. I am looking to buy a camcorder; my first child is to be born in a few months. I don’t have a budget in mind but to limit things I suppose I have been looking at things between £500-1200. I have been looking at the Panasonic TM300 model but I understand this is old now and due for replacement this quarter. Also the small Sony TG model appeals due to its size.
My main requirement is really good optical zoom (don’t want digital zoom camcorders), lightweight and compact, and brill colours!
Any ideas?

I've just bought the Panasonic HDC-HS200 very good bit of kit and some deals out there to be had plus if you buy a Panasonic HD camcorder you get £50cash back (runs out 31Jan).
You could go for the HDC-HS300 with 120g hdd??
These models are due for renewal soonish. Around March right? The new camcorders will have better zoom. You could go for the HDC-HS300 with 120g hdd??
I believe the HS200 only came out this winter.

If you wait for the next model you will never buy one. There is always a better model around the corner, if you want to save some pennies then it's a good opportunity to buy the replacedmodel
I bought a Panasonic SDR S26 last year. Nice and small, SD card recording, decent zoom and optical image stabilisation. Fitted my needs beautifully (mostly in car recording).
