Pre-Qualifying
Discussion
www.lemans.org says that this year the PQ is at the last weekend in April (25th). Usually there aren't many spectators around. On saturday the pit lane is accessible. Even on sunday there's a chance to get into the paddock although last year they threw me out later on sunday morning. All grand stands are accessible with the Enceinte Generale ticket. That's the same ticket you need for the race. Hotel rooms should be easily available. Have fun, you know it makes sense.

I think a few Mid Essex peeps are going for a recce prior to the main event, and I'd like to go to have a chance to get some good photos without having too many crowds to deal with (and hopefully better access).
Maybe a mini-PH trip could be arranged!
Ed,
As agreed we still stay in a nice hotel for this one!!
Alan.
I stayed at the Hotel St. Jean in the city centre of the small town La Ferté de Bernard at the 1000Km weekend last November. It's about 20 Minutes from the circuit and costs 38 Euros per night (+ 5 Euros for breakfast I think). It's quite ok and I'll stay there during the PQ weekend. I can dig out the email adress if needed.

Sounds good.
Ed & Alf, If I am going Im going to bring Ali as well since she might then understand why I go on about LM so much! (And she likes the British GT racing so she'll love this!).
Is it ok if we join up with your lot?
courseyoucan.......
Alf is going so he can work on his European driving skills, I'm going so i can work out our route, Julia's going so she can look for a restaurant for the Friday parade in June and BigMs working on how to feed us all in June......
Oh and at some stage we plan to look at the testing as well
Looking forward to it....
Adam - sure you can come along...but don't follow Ed with his GPS...as who knows where you will end up
People - again lets make sure wherever we go there is a secure carpark...common theme from me when we go on trips I know but don't want my pride and joy abused by any Frenchie!!

I'm never going to live this down am I?
At least this year I will load *all* the maps for the Le Mans area. Last year I missed off one of the charts (which covered Le Mans itself ), and my GPS ended up routing us into a black hole!
Parking shouldn't be a problem from my experience in France - there doesn't seem to be the same desire to damage nice cars, or nick valve covers. Saying that, some French guy did drive into my old Griff in the Le Mans car park at the race 2 years ago
This will be my sixth time at Le mans but have never been to the qualifying before. Im hoping it will be a quieter less hectic event. It means better viewing and eay to get into Hotels, resturaunts etc. which is good since I really want to show Ali what its about.
Plus I dont think I could handle 2 full on LMs in one year!
Will be good to tag along with you. Since Im in Portsmouth I'll have to try and time it right so I can meet you in France (Im assuming you are going via the Chunnel). Although I suppose a drive to Dover wouldnt be too bad. At least it makes the drive in France even longer and thats the best bit about Le Mans!
