Request header too long error

Since about 1:30 today every attempt I make to access www.pistonheads.com (any page) results in "Bad Request (Request Header Too Long)"

This is the only site giving this error - I'm posting via the mobile site at the moment. No changes to config at my end.

Hmm - just "solved" it, by deleting all cookies for PH. Seriously - how many ASP session cookies does this site actually need ? I reckon I've reclaimed about a gigabyte by wiping them out!

bks - it's doing it again and it's related to one of the ASPSEssion cookies. Don't ask me which one though. Guess I'll just have to do some work instead

And it happened twice while I was trying to put that picture here!

Right - I've been monitoring this for a little while now. When things are working I seem to have only one ASPSESSIONID cookie. As soon as the problem appears, if I check cookies there's something in the region of 100 of the little b*gg*rs! - no expiry times on any of them.

Update : This was happening with Safari which had been live for 3 or 4 days. I've switched to Chrome and it seems to have stopped for now. May be a bug in Safari causing excessive refreshes and lots of new cookies ?

Update 2 : since switching to Chrome this error seems to have gone away.

I suspect some bizarre interaction between Safari, Squid and MacOS in hibernate mode.

Thanks for the info, we are tracking this bug and trying to find the cause. If anything changes or it gets worse then please update us.
