Just wondering if anyone in the wide PH world has ordered from Camerabox and had anything delivered recently?

Having used them before, I ordered a Tokina 12-24mm at a very good price at the end of November and it hasn't arrived yet - the website says it's out of stock, new stock expected 8th Jan irked (it was in stock when I ordered irked ) but they're not replying to my emails either.

My credit card was charged back in Nov... which isn't a problem if they actually deliver the thing. Should I be getting worried?

Why don't you phone them? There website says that email is the preferred method of contact but they have a phone number too. If the stock was delivered on the 8th (which, as you say, is what the website also states) then it may well not have got to you yet!

Then again, a company that charges a credit card before they can fulfil the order is a bit naughty......

Apparently camerabox did about 10mill online last year, and thanks to most of their stock being sourced from overseas (grey import) they probably one of the more profitable companies out there.

I got my first lens from them so wasn't too worried about buying from them again.

Haven't been able to call them because of work - but I shouldn't need to!

I know that complainants are more likely to use ratings than happy customers but the more recent feedback is grim.

As you said, usually on a site like that you get more negative than positive but the sheer weight of negative reviews recently is somewhat worrying!

I've heard too many stories of missing / photocopied instructions, crap service and cloned cards to use them. I also know someone who rarely uses his Credit Card but it was cloned within a week or 2 of placing a sizeable order with them.

I've used them and they've delivered within a few days as expected - Admittedly, I read the reviews after I ordered from them...

Perhaps that's how the MD has a lovely Aston wink

If anyone gets through to them via the phone please update the thread.

FWIW If you're going to buy from Jessops they're about to move on price and put the Canon range up.

As I said - used them before with no problems.

But it's interesting that my card was cloned last month, after 10+ years of it never happening...

That will most likely be a grey import if that's of concern.

Personally I wouldn't use ebay for anything new and expensive, but that's just me...

Um....another company dealing in grey imports which provides no contact details other than an email address, do not accept credit cards, have to provide UK converters etc etc. The deal doesn't look quite so attractive when these 'minor' issues are taken into account compared with proper suppliers like WEX and Jessops...
