Damn and blast!

I tried the angry voice and it fell on deaf ears. Cost me £130 in the end. Managed to keep my save data by putting my hard drive in a mates PS3 and doing a backup. Make sure they are the same firmware though. If nothing else it taught me to at least back up my savedata every month. Oh, and it took 7 weeks and 2 phonecalls to get my disc back.

I hear the "angry" voice isn't the one to use.
I hear that the best way is to convey your disappointment, about how reliable sony products normally are for you and how you were looking forward to an upcoming exclusive.
This approach anecdotally runs between free replacement to a 90 quid slim!
Remember UK peeps, the SOGA (sale of goods act) applies between the original retailer you bought from and is good for pretty much three years. They should replace your first failure or at least pay sony for it.
All approaches are worth a go!

May not work the same with sony... I hear that the best way is to convey your disappointment, about how reliable sony products normally are for you and how you were looking forward to an upcoming exclusive.

i wrote a very disgruntled email to microsoft last time my xbox went wrong. Went on laying it thick about how i have had all xbox's and paid for xbox live since launch etc. Then mentioned that i was thinking about selling up and moving across to sony products and i got a very quick and apologetic reply!!

Whatever you do don't act disgruntled act disappointed, disgruntled is a bit like irritable and will get you nowhere with sony staff. Act disappointed with the product maybe intimate that a three year warranty might make you change your allegiance (X360 has a three yr warranty due to very poor reliability) but never sound threatening or angry it's counterproductive.
Still the retailer can deal with it up to three years under SOGA, sony play ball with retailers more as they sell the consoles for them!

Not always as that was pretty much my 1st call to them and included the sob story of my 1 day old game being stuck in it, and the standing in line for hours on launch day (which was a lie) Still fell on deaf ears though. Not even the tempting exclusives coming up for the 360 at the time and the fact I could afford one if I sold my ps3 games worked.I hear that the best way is to convey your disappointment, about how reliable sony products normally are for you and how you were looking forward to an upcoming exclusive.
