Am I unique because I dislike this sound so much?

it's alright if you're in the car doing all the "pssting", they scare the beejesus out of me when I'm just walking along and some wag gives it the biggun by lifting off the accelerator as they pass me.

You mean like on a Corsa that sounds like its just popped a Good-Year blimp as it reaches 26mph

It's a great sound, but it does look a bit silly coming out of a Lax Power Fiesta RS Turbo. A properly tuned Evo or RS500 with a decent dump valve sounds great

Errr. Got one. It came with the car as stock, so I don't see the problem. It's not mega loud, and it never fails to raise a smile.

whats the problem?

Gazboy, there isn't a problem. Its just a personal thing that annoys me - like nails on a blackboard type thing -

DJ has a point. On a decent car they're OK but on a bag of sh*te they sound stupid.

I really want to find someone with this soundclip/speaker setup to fool people into thinking it's a dumpvalve.

Mine's a recirculating type, rather than dump to atmosphere.

Something like that. I think it's along the lines of "You've already filtered and measured the air. Why the hell dump it to atmosphere because you're not running enough boost to case a problem by dumping into the intake"

That's the literal translation of the noise it makes.

Mine is recirculating, so does'nt make a noise.

My neighbour's isnt, and makes the annoying noise every time he lifts off- even when he is reversing up the drive!!!

I did have a standard recirc one, but replaced it with a vent to atmosphere one. I did this because the new one is shiney and it makes flames come out of the exhaust.

Do I need any more justification?

Sounds good on a Scooby, but is just stupid on a maxed-up stbox like a Renualt 5GT Turbo.
