Wow.

So Gordon has totally lost control then.

Darling and Mandelson have used last week's pathetic coup attempt to their advantage. Perhaps this was what it was all about; it wouldn't be beyond reality for Mandy to have engineered the whole situation in order to push Gordon into making (for Labour, right now) this decision regarding election policy.

Perhaps I'm reading too much genius into what could well be opportunism...

I can't wait to see how Winky manages to spin his change of stance now, though!

In fact, maybe this is the first he knows of it; the following line pricked my ears up:

"to me, cutting the borrowing was never negotiable. Gordon accepts that, he knows that.”

Why add the last sentence? Is Winky being hustled?

How odd. Cuts mean less nurses, less police etc...

Oh no wait, that's only when the Tories suggest cuts..........

Darling really said "We're going to lie to you again so you'll vote for us"

Labour are always the same, tax + spend. Always the same outcomes, no money left

Will Winky now hide for the weekend and not be available in public?

Of course he will. He is a coward.

I hope that CMD has a good outing on Andy Marr tomorow morning.

It was strategic the way I read it.

Darling is writing in a footnote now, so they don't have to talk about it again.

I am ashamed.

In my defence, it was 1 am when I posted this; tbh I don't actually remember either reading the article or posting this topic, I was that tired.

Will PH forgive this sinful transgression?

One can only hope... biggrin

This makes me want to throw the monitor through the window.furious

Why should we all accept without question the Government's (any not just this shower) blind adherence to the budget cuts = cuts in service mantra. In the private sector we manage to cut spend and maintain or increase service. Are they really trying to suggest that the Public Sector is so efficient that there is no wastage at all, I know that they all live in La La land but even they can't believe that right??spin

So now Darling's saying "If the tories are promising cuts we'll promise more cuts" How clueless can he get?

Some guy on the radio this morning got it in one...

The Tories will temporarily increase tax and permanently cut public spending.
New Labour will permanently increase tax and temporarily cut public spending.

yes

Britain stands at a crossroads

One road leads to at least a chance of remaining a 1st world economy the other to destitution.

So basically the Great Labour Ponzi Scheme has run out of our money to piss away on social engineering projects dreamt up by the second-rate Student Union activists who inhabit the halls of Westminster these days.

No matter which collection of halfwit liberalist pillocks get to have a crack at fking up our lives in May, we're Europe's bh now. The Germans and French having succeeded where force of arms could not.

Nothing will change now, the point of no return was passed several years ago.

  • Isn't it 12 million with their fingers in the purse?
  • At war
  • No industrial base
  • Biggest wealth generators and tax contributors now actively pursued to pay for the cost of the socialist dream
  • Democratic process which allows laws to enter statute without debate in parliament
  • Prime Ministers who neither represent nor care about the wishes of the majority, neither in the party they represent nor the country they serve
And finally, the bit which has put the nail in the proverbial for me

  • A country governed and run not by the rule of law or collective moral code, but by regulation and hateful little people in high-visibility jackets. Christ, even the Gestapo didn't go as far as monitoring people's rubbish bins.
Some backwater in the Mid-West is looking increasingly attractive; least I could be left alone, relatively, to conduct my life without Big Leftie Brother permanantly having one hand up my arse and the other in my wallet.

All this is of course no surprise..

But why is he undermining winky? Everyone knows cuts are coming, but why point it out like this ? especially as Brown was on Andrew Marr last weekend, pounding his fist into his hand, saying how much investment Labour are going to make.. Darlings comments just make him look silly..

Unless thats the point of course.. Darling appears to be a much more stable character than Brown, maybe he thinks realism will gain him some support within the party as we lead up to winkys inevitable departure ?

The knives are out in Labourland, but those wielding the knives are just as bad - they just want to distance themselves from the most obvious liability.

I was just wondering, seen as 'The Badger' is going to get a Swan song budget, how fked over do we expect the motorist to be? A bit, very or loads? I can see the car tax bands being arsed around with so anything more powerful than a hair dryer will be £200+. Also all of us who defied the Fuhrers attempt to scrap our reliable old motors will be severely done over, for continuing to drive 'polluting' cars when we could of had shiny new hybrids.
