"Britain’s has fallen to 25th position on a list of best places in the world to live."
That says it all really, Uruguay and Andora are ahead of us

I made the move to France four years ago and yes, it has a lot going for it, but it ain't perfect. I am surprised it comes out top but in spite of the UK's lowly ranking I somehow reckon I'll end up back in Blighty in a few years. Certainly glad we made the move over but I reckon the UK should be nearer the top of the list.

I view that list very speculatively. I would definately place the U.K. at a higher rank than some I see there. How was this ranking achieved?

My list looks nothing at all like that in terms of the order some countries are in. Then, I guess everyone wants different things from the place they live and have their own reasons for living there / wanting to.

So we're in the top 15% of countries in which to live in a silly subjective poll. rolleyes So what?

There are places in this country that would rival anywhere on the face of the planet. There are other places on this country that would rival Mogadishu.

Equally, if you've got a yacht moored on the Cap d'Antibes, you'll have a very different view of life in France to someone living in a run down HLM tower block in Asnières.

Life is what you make it, wherever you happen to be, and there's no point worrying about it beyond that.

I take these surveys as meaning nothing much, like the C4 surveys of the best and worst places to live in the UK.
My home town
2005 3rd
2006 4th
2007 not on list

Does this mean the illegals will be content with Calais & stop trying to get across the Channel?
