Do condensing boilers blow up?
Discussion
Hi, I'm grumbledoak and I'm the proud owner of a condensing boiler. I think.
For the last two days the hot water from the taps has been hot. Really hot. Bordering steam.
Clearly this isn't normal (I'd have noticed), but what is likely to be wrong with it? Should I just turn it off? And, if so, who should I call to come around and fix it?
Any help appreciated.

I have a condensing boiler that was in my house when I bought it around 18 months ago. It failed and I called the manufacturer and found that it had a 5 year warranty so they fixed it for no cost to me. You may not be so lucky but they should be able to put you in touch with an engineer who can fix their products.
Sounds to me like you've constant calling for heat on the hot water side and thus the boiler is only satisfying the boiler 'stat. This could be caused by an iffy thermostat which isn't ever reaching a satisfied state but sounds more likely to me to be the valve stuck open on the hot water side, which not only would keep the hot water circuit wide open but the internal microswitch depressed and thus the call for heat to the boiler.
combi or cylinder?
either way like said it's probably a HW limit stat at fault, if it's combi it'll be internal if it's a cylinder you'll have on on the side of the cylinder-try adjusting it.
if you're still looking for a plumber call steve on 07875 697044, I've worked with him & he's quite reasonable.
