Itching

to get back in the TVR after nearly a month of leaving it quietly trickle charging in the garage due to salty roads, bad weather and an expired MOT. (OK - I had a sideways crawl to the top of the road and back on Sunday, that's all. Just a sneaky dabble to keep my hand in)

Am I the only one who's aching to get hard on the accelerator ??

Can't wait for the opportunity to get it out on a dry road and give it some beans again.

Mine was tucked away end of August and i have to wait to april. Not itching that much cos i take one look out side and the roads have the same salt content as the sea, I am a bit sad as i hate to see my car dirty thats what i use the Volvo for it only gets a wash when i can no longer see out the windows

So yes roll on spring nice clean dry roads

Got the same itch.. all this cold weather means the roads are constantly wet (with salt) meaning no scratching til the wind picks up and temps rise.

Mine's been kept off the salt in my garage since early December, can't wait to go out in it again!

Do I need to start it periodically to get all the fluids moving or is that considered detrimental to the engine?

I run mine at least once a fortnight if it's not being used. I don't know if it's right or wrong but it can't be that bad as I've done it for the last 7 years!

I'll take it up the road if conditions allow but I'll at least let it warm up and lube for a few mins in the drive.

Im itching too!! only really been out once since the run in service and now with the weather and developing a bloomin misfire i have to fix before i can really get out again.



edited to say, its generally considered that warming the car stationary can strain the top end of the engine, but this is only if done regularly. The odd occasion it wont hurt, i mean after all, the guys that service these car dont take them out to warm them up before tuning them!!

Me too i run mine up every few weeks over the winter and let it run for about 20-30 let it come right up to temp think it it does it more good than harm.

If you cant drive it then don't run it,i turn my motor over by hand every few weeks to unload the valve springs that's all,otherwise all your doing is shoving condensation and acids into your engine oil and crankcase by running for short periods

Not the only one at all. Mine's fully MOT'd and insured, but I'm unable to drive it due to the weather. Hopefully this snow will melt in february, and I'll get some clear hooning on the go!
